The messages theory

5 06 2009

Every day a person dies, another one is born. Right now there millions of people who are 20 yrs old, 30 yrs, 40 yrs old, 60yrs old, maybe less than the normal 80-90yrs old (natural selection and 2WW).

So if we imagine the information flow around us like an answer to demand, or just a constant supply, then we state that all kind of messages are in the air constantly.

There are the ones aimed at 10 year old girls, which only the 10years old girs perceive. Naturally we ignore children stuff. They ignore BBC stuff.

So all kind of messages are in the air. If we accept also that the human mind and culture are limited, meaning that culture hasn’t changed too much in the last centuries. Meaning that messages in the air are constant and consistent.

This means that, it is not our environment that supplies us with information, and so shapes us.
It is US who perceive only some of the information and so accept to be shaped by it.

Meaning that society is not in fault for the guys in prison – its their own fault and not by means of sociological shifting blame.

So, why do we perceive just some information? Because we have a programme in our heads to do it. Either genes or a soul, which has chosen a pattern before being incarnated. The 2 explanations are synonymous, according to me.

But the point is that your development as a person is predetermined. But we are still irrational, so choices are not predetermined. Rather their originating and happening is.

This means that if we put a genious mathematician on the farmer field in India, he is going to get hyper excited by shapes and numbers, he is goin gto be able to do his grocery sums in seconds, he would be able to calculate the field’s area, the annual product and so to build and intuitive model of his output. Cool, eh?

Winners

21 04 2009

You know that actually Western Europe’s architecture is very similar? Places tend to be so very same, that it can give you the creeps. I even started thinking that maybe I am just fantasizing about traveling, and not doing the real thing.

Its because of the winners. The continent has a record of balcanization and wars for such a long time that it is easy to think that if your village is at war and loses, the winners come giving their genotype and their thinking to the ones that lost. If you take it from the cultural prospective, then someone has won a long time ago.

And this winning culture continues to win, spreading itself to the East. Some may call it globalization, but rather than big regions assimilating small in a distributed manner, it is more of the West spreading to the East.

Imagine from the opposite point of view. Being asian and all the people around being with the same skin and hair color. But on the billboards, on TV, on magazines, wherever you turn your eye you see the western ideal of beauty. Imagine what happens in your head. You wouldn’t want to be the person you are, to have the look you have.

Inspiring this type of self-hatred is one of the known ways to make a nation weaker.

I would call it cultural raping. But this is the way things go. Winners take it all.

Something  very far from the above topic – the US did make a terroristic attack on the Middle East in 2001. The bad thing about our enemies is that, in order to beat them, we become like them.

Communication

18 03 2009

A major question in the field of phylosophy of language is “How does a meaning of a sentence emerge out of its own parts?” Answer: words just transmit thoughts, the act of envisioning your idea and passing it to the other can be thought as telepathy. People with similar backgrounds tend to exchange ideas faster.

Maybe the gaining of this background can be seen as synchronising their mental processes, and therefore explaining the lesser need for words, and therefore jumping on a semi telepathic level in the communication with the other person. Synchronizing would then can happen with time by equaling body language and semantic perceptions (i.e. getting a mutual agreement on the exact meaning of every word).

From just words to undestanding the envisioned idea comes into play the intuition, that literally like a child pulls you by the coat and points the right direction. So the more you trust your intuition the more you get into a higher level of understanding with the people around you.

From the point of view of today´s crisis:

13 03 2009

It is adaptive rather than allocative efficiency which is the key to long run growth. Successful political/economic systems have evolved flexible institutional structures that can survive the shocks and changes that are a part of successful evolution. But these systems have been a product of long gestation. We do not know how to create adaptive efficiency in the short run.

Digest 2

12 03 2009

I am getting a kind of housewife syndrom. I am staying all day at home, I wake up at 7.30AM to kiss goodbye to Piero, then I cannot sleep any more and wandera round like a zombie. At around noon I am able to drink a digestive liquore that makes me sleep till 6PM.  My rhythm is disturbed, I have to give some work to my predator nature. Since the problems with the knees I stay at home and have a rest. I cannot even do yoga. Grrrrrr.

(dir.bg)

As a general comment on the crisis, I would like to cite a guy, whose name I forgot – Eastern Europe has lived in a crisis for the last 20 years. I don’t think another 5 in the newspaper headlines will make a great difference.

Language

25 02 2009

A major question in the field – perhaps the single most important question for formalist and structuralist thinkers – is, “How does the meaning of a sentence emerge out of its parts?”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophy_of_language

Well, this actually proves that we do not communicate by the amount of sounds we can extract from our vocal aparat, but by the thinkinh that we put into them. I.e. this could be considered an early type of telepathy:-)

With the above statement, I apply for the Nobel Award:-))

The excellent student syndrome

18 01 2009

When I was in school till the 4th class I was one of the best students in my class. I was great in every subject.

After the fourth class I entered a mathematical school where all of the students had been the best of their classes and we all were more or less equal.

The excellent student syndrome became apparent to me much later when after the 7th grade on the base of some exams I entered again the same school but with new classmates. I had been already accustomed to not being the best of the class and it was strange to see how some of them tried to be, couldn’t and then dropped out for the next year.

So the syndrome occurs when one person, who is relatively the smartest of its surroudings, gets into one place with other such people and has to face the fact that a)he is not the best and b)he is not so smart after all. Some make it, some fail miserably.

I came around to think about that when I red the blogs of several people I knew before time and one recurring theme was their own smartness, how they were better than the rest. I think this is the point when one person starts to take himself too serious and becomes prone to influences.

After this point the situation of the excellent student syndrome can doom them.

Above all, I think the measurement of intelligence is something totally ludicrous. Whether one is mediocre, great or stupid is impossible to measure, people develop and take choices every day and it happens often that the ones you thought yourself better than have long surpassed you or have made better choices in similar situations.

So boasting how smart one is makes apparent only that that one needs to feel better than the rest, and by doing so, he is like the rest.

what to do?

14 11 2008

How do you help a person, who doesn’t accept your help but makes you feel guilty that you are not giving it? Maybe I am not giving the help the other wants, but this is the one I can give.

Its a bit fucked up with all the filters we create to defend ourselves from society’s negative traits. Like the person who doesn’t trust your smile because he thinks that you are laughting at him.

Like the words we have teached ourselves to ignore but which are in fact the exact words we have to accept to help ourselves.

This is why sometimes we have to wrap one meaning in different packages. I see that marketing tries this but the only things it is achieving is the complete blindness of the consumer.

This is what we are. We are blind to signals and deaf to words. We always know better. We are sick of hearing of the n’th time the same mantras from our parents.

But sometimes just… listen. Whatever your parents, friends and close ones are saying, they are doing it out from positive grounds and they want to help you to achieve your ideas.

Because, honestly, complaining and not listening makes you a grumble whimper.

interesting. I needed to see it written to find the solution and to accept it. My fellow readers, this happens often – I open the browser, I start writing, I see it written and I find the solution to my problem, so I close the browser without saving ;D

Tinkerbell effect :D

13 11 2008

The Tinkerbell effect describes those things that exist only because people believe in them. The effect is named for Tinker Bell, the fairy in the play Peter Pan who is revived from near death by the belief of the audience.

Claimed cases include:

  • monetary system
  • the value of a nation’s money in a fiat system
  • civil society
  • the “rule of law
